The story went as followed:
Not too long after you'd left Centria, there was a group of thieves that, somehow slipping past the company's security systems, tried to hijack the airships and steal them. Fortunately they were caught by a worker, who'd only returned because he forgot his wallet. The rest of the crew, alerted through radio to take their recall potions, retook the ship after a brief scuffle.
Then, on the day of the flight, a small leak was noticed in the main ship. The discovery lead to finding major problems in the engine, which needed urgent fixing. Thankfully, Hisashi had enough members of the mechanic class employed to work things out. And so this airship was airborne and wouldn't need to keep the other airships behind schedule.
Harsh weather plagued the usual north-sea trading route, so a detour was necessary. But on their way to the port, they were attacked by a Roc. In the ensuing battle, Hisashi managed to gain another tail. While the Mitsubishi group managed to kill the bird, Hisashi almost lost all of his tails and his life from that last attack he made against it. A merchant vessel wasn't so lucky, needing half of its parts replaced. This airship had to be dragged by some others through the skies towards a friendly port, and there it got the destroyed half of the ship replaced. They also found out that the Roc was one of many from the south that migrated to the north for unknown reasons.
After finally landing in Northrensjor, a small brawl between one of Hisashi's men and a local blacksmith turned into a riot. Hisashi was considering leaving and trying again with some other clan up north, but was convinced by the local chieftain to give things time to cool down and celebrate a harvesting festival called Haustblot with them. A feast would ensue, and he was able to successfully negotiate the items and materials for a bargain.
That same merchant airship suffered again on the way back; this time the unaffected half was destroyed by a stray bolt of lightning and was replaced too.
"At least you basically got a new boat." Mel tried to put a positive spin for that Ship of Theseus.
"Indeed. And Roc meat can go for quite the hefty price too." Hisashi said. "Not so much for its quality, but the sheer amount of it was enough to break even."
"Was the Roc bigger than one of your airships?" Asked Herta. You recall that she once mentioned that at least one of the Guardians looked like a giant bird.
"Around half as large." Hisashi responded, much to Herta's relief.
The old kitsune would continue to talk about the adventure he went through, filling in details and answering questions you and your wives had. You couldn't really blame his good mood— his daughter finally had a Master and his grandson was just born.
Mel would later on tell you that, despite all the pride he held for gaining his sixth tail, there was a melancholy in his eyes and a quiet acceptance in his actions.
