>>5947310I have acknowledged that issue myself as well, hence my attempts to get two updates or more per day to keep things rolling within the Quest and IRL.
I think the reason to this is fourfold. First we have rather large amount of named characters in the mix that require interactions. Second there are events going around Alric that either require his attention now or in the future. Combined with first point and we get a living setting, but a setting that slows the progress of time within Quest and IRL.
Third I dislike doing timeskips if interactions and events aren't handled as I want to give players options and interactions, even if they are small, to give the idea of the world existing outside of Alric and/or if the events are related to him. Fourth and maybe the most important reason is that, I have this idea of pacing of events and the flow within my writing. I want to be descriptive and avoid skipping things that happen, because to me that breaks the flow. There should be a bridge between one scene and another.
For example it wasn't probably necessary to do all the "Alric learns arcane writing updates", but I feel like that helps with the flow and progression of Alric putting in the work. It wasn't just Alric starting something and then he had finished it. There were steps between it. Meanwhile the few days long timeskip till the rain stops happened after all the events I had planned were done. Could I have cut the wrestling and Malevus pov? Sure, but I felt like it needed that bridge between more major scenes and the interaction with Hampton being part of the wider living world and a character moment for Malevus.
It's good that you mentioned this as this has bothered me as well a bit, but now that you mentioned it, hopefully I am a bit more conscious about it. And don't worry, things should pick up in pace soon enough.
Finally thank you for what you wrote, it makes me happy that people find time to give comments and critiques. And it makes me happy that you enjoy my little Quest.
And now let me start writing the update. I got home sooner than expected.
>>5947397I will put that in my notes
