The elder dragon is brought in to perform advanced flying reconnaissance ahead of the army, and if possible, toast any stragglers on the open plains.
Forces from Anguia, Sylvia, Taurica, and Harenae are marched towards the plains. Such a mobilization, greater than ten thousand in number, may seem disproportionate to the number of enemies, but the hatred for demons within this land is strong, and stories of what happened to Harenae have spread throughout the land. Every man fears for the lives of his children and wife and so they march.
The demons of the plains have gotten confident, and arrogance already being part of their nature, do not expect a response such as this, and thus are unprepared when the dragon swoops down upon them. The fire of the dragon is more than a match for these creatures, blasting them on the spot and leaving nothing but black stains behind when their bodies dissolve.
The dragon catches several packs of these monsters unawares and annihilates them, but identifies a den of sorts. The dragon flies back to alert the army as they close in on the grasslands. These lands are home to curious reptilian creatures, but they are not our focus.
The demonic hyenas have retreated to their dens. Surrounded as they are, there is no hope of retreat for these monsters.
Several warrior-priests approach the den, where the largest hyena emerges, but only enough to speak. "There is no hope of us living if we meet in combat," the monster concedes. "However, the girls we have taken yet live. Allow us to leave, and we will let you have them. We shall trouble your lands no further; we will depart to the south, or elsewhere, someplace your people do not tread. If you do not, we will kill them, and then die."
What will we do? Do we negotiate with the beasts? Accept their terms and save the girls? Or slaughter them all, and if the girls die, then so be it?
