The Fist could feel his muscles work as they lifted amounts many times more than a man should have been able to. Such a thing was necessary as for every second they waited the material that was stone once before would become solid and would require another round of lasfire to clear.
The two of them made good time as they rushed the work as fast as they could. By the shovel full they were picking up more and more solid stone but the Fist estimated they would be five minutes over from when the stone would require another carving.
With the material being as hot as it was they could not employ the use of the Servitor and instead threw it over the side. They needed to be careful to clear the other workers that were around them but the two Astartes were not too worried. With experience within their muscles they had no trouble disposing of the material.
Knowing that he was clear, the Fist began to speak once again, “What is your personal assessment?”
He was welcomed with silence as the 2nd Legionnaire continued his work. It was obvious the Astartes were thinking about what exactly those thoughts even were for the most part. The Fist could not blame them. His mind was focused on other things.
Like many of the other Legions the 2nd Legion held a sense of aggression within their genes. In other Legions this was much more pronounced, such as the twelfth that would be called butchers by the 1st when they were back on Terra being trained.
Unlike the Twelfth that allowed their anger to flow freely the 2nd did not dare to do so. It was not Anger, to say, but what was a clear sign of battlelust that each of their Legionnaire’s had within themselves. He could feel it whenever the Astartes pulled the trigger on their firearm and turned whatever was before them into molten material. It did not matter if it was human or xenos to them.
Their skill however was appreciated and how they managed to keep their desires down was something the Fist could admire. Such a thing simply meant that if you ask a 2nd Legionnaire something that was not about war they needed to ponder it for the need for such thoughts never crossed their minds.
“For my personal assessment we have come out ahead as a Legion.” Declared the Astartes finally after the two came close to finishing their work.
>So the benefits of leaving the Imperial Truth were worth such poison?
>Is that because you have your Primarch?
>Would that likely be the increase in numbers thanks to your new brothers?
