"For those who have the money to enter and exit the ports, it's a prosperous, ever growing garrison for the Vandimions. A monolith of how religion can unite people of all countries of the continent. Ys, Tudor, Midland, and Balden, just to name a few. Before we departed, I remember Vritannis attempting to expand their army by use of Randel commonwealth. Along with Faris, Lana and Nise, they together form the Paneria Alliance."
"Are they all meeting together for their negotiations?"
"They're all in the border of collapsing on their own regards. For example, Balden is dealing with a peasant insurrection. Randel is a newly found country born from said insurrection, and due to being a settlement in the wetlands where criminals were sent to, they are seen as an aggressive nation with negative connotations to their colonies. Uniting with Midland forces to aid in the Kushan army should cleanse their blackened history."
"If that much can be done for a country, a single man shouldn't be hard to forgive..."
"Redemption is not that easy to build, as a country's entire reputation can be tarnished by the slightest mistake. Look at Morgar and Wallatoria for instance, small kingdoms at the furthest east of our nations, yet they're veterans of war who have survived resistance against the kushans for generations. The Paneria Alliance were only a group of city-states in continuous skirmishes around their dominions, so even though they have economic power, they are heavily dependent on mercenaries."
"Seems dangerous, to only use mercenaries as a private army. Midland did something similar with the Band Of The Falcon, but they still had some semblance of a private army."
"Depends on the mercenaries, The Band Of The Dawn Fang, for instance have remained undefeated in the Randel war of independence, but one must always remember that mercenary groups will always priorities themselves and their benefits than whatever noble entity hires them."
"Your knowledge of their forces is quite widespread."
"It comes with being a herald of arms. Don't be surprised if you find plenty of people dying on the street and being ignored while begging for change though. All of these people hate the kushan and want to survive, but they won't accept all unless they apply with either political ideology, or with enough bribery."
"Getting on their good side must be near essential, then. They must have more urgent matters to attend than an inquisition of an old enemy."
"Well, you were accused of witchcraft and brought down the great hero of Midland at his peak, before the kingdom fell into ruin. It's pretty much common belief that you were the one responsible for it, bringing a curse onto Midland for your imprisonment."
"..." You shiver, wondering if that was the reason why they went after your family estate.
