The allure of SIDEQUESTS is too much for your feeble mind to ignore. Even if a small part of you wants to head onto the next train and LEAVE, the potential rewards of the side quest (some D-Corp Favor, $600, and a PARADIGM you can KEEP?) is enough to override your self preservation for now.
You toss Benjamin some items for him to tinker with. He eagerly begins working on creating some potent items while you discuss with your other allies on what to do.
"I'd argue we should just leave." Max is visibly uncomfortable with being here after everything she's seen. "We have our target and if your weird voice power is correct? I rather not have an endless horde of faceless spooks after us."
"I would agree with you but," You tap on the pocket where you have the supercharged A PERFECT NOTHING in. "we can probably get away with pushing our luck a bit."
Max sighs but doesn't push you further on this.
"I know you well enough to know you want to deal with that weird anomaly syndicate, right?"
"Bingo."
"Hell yeah. There's one issue with that plant." Kiara points at Seath. "He stands out like a sore thumb, doesn't he?"
Oh yeah. Everyone else is in disguises but this dude is still wearing his fancy suit. He's also someone the spooks are hunting after. Shit.
"Ah. I'll fix that. Be right back." Kiara disappears down a nearby alleyway. It only takes her a minute to return with a large rag cloak that can drape over Seath.
Seath sneers at the idea of having to wear it but he still has some self preservation instinct left in his mold-rotten brain. Max and Casey begin to doll him up in his disguise and you take this moment to take to some of the others.
"Okay. So this place is hell, I have never been to a worse district." Your memory of what districts you've visited before becoming a Cleaner is hazy but you think you've been to, like, 20/26? This one takes the cake in terms of suffering. "We're going to save that dog, maybe visit one location after that, and fucking leave."
"Two locations too many if it was my decision." Clover digs through his rags and the poncho underneath the rags for something to chew on. "Ya know, do ya think those Bavashes or whatever might get antsy around us?"
"How come?" You cross your arms.
Kiara is confused for a brief moment but her analytic computer brain picks up what Clover is putting down. "Clover and Casey still have that magical girl's...essence stuck to them. You, Max and Benjamin are SHIFTers. Seath works for D-Corp and has probably worked with the anomalous a lot."
"I'm the only one who stands out and I work and study the anomalous a lot in my off time."
"Mmh-hmm. I'm a-worried they might start a ruckus if we realize what we are. Even if we gotta save that dog."
"Still not sure how he fell under an anomaly's influence then!" Benjamin hisses as he finishes up the two items you asked of him.

"Slip of the mind." Seath mumbles under his breath.
