>>5704450“Now that’s enthusiasm. Take your seat on the other side of the arena and we’ll get ready to begin. Best of luck to you, mercenaries. You’ll need it.” Leif smirks, leaving to take his seat on the Sreng side of the arena.
On your way back to the Blackwings side, Ronan tugs at your cape and whispers in your ear. “By the way, I forgot to mention this last night. Prince Leif would reaaaallly appreciate it if your fighters don’t kill any of the Sreng ones. It would really go a long way into currying favor with him and the others.”
>“But I’m sure they’ll have no qualms about killing us, right?”Ronan can only grimace in response.
You take your seat in the stands, along with the others. A tap on your right shoulder pulls your attention away from the ring. Anemone is sitting right behind you, with Eulalia at her side, who politely waves at you.
“In case it wasn’t obvious to you already, I can confirm that she is in fact an Agarthan.” Anemone says flatly.
>“You’re sure of that?”“I can see her true form as clearly as day. And she can see mine. Go on, take a look.” Anemone points towards the opposing stands, where Maeve is sitting next to the prince. Sure enough, the Oracle’s gaze is centered entirely on the two of you. Her face is twisted in a mixture of hatred and perhaps even fear. “We noticed each other yesterday, too. I’d wager this is all because she knows exactly who we are. The only thing is, I don’t believe she was expecting to run into us. I’d say she’s up to something, and our sudden appearance is more than a minor inconvenience for her.”
>“We can rid ourselves of her if we win these trials. Now that we know she’s Agarthan, will you fight if I ask you to?”Anemone shrugs. “I’d prefer to keep an eye on her, but if you need me to, I can leave the monitoring to Eulalia.”
“Enough chatting you two!” Corrine hisses. “Blair, hurry up and pick our first fighter. We’re running out of time.”
Ronan had already told you the first fighter you’d be facing. He was a Halberdier by the name of Flynn. He was renowned amongst the Sreng horde as a warrior who would somehow manage to fight harder the more damage he’d taken. Supposedly, when an arrow had taken his eye in battle, he’d pulled the missile out, ate the organ, and then charged back into the fight, killing his assailant. He sounded nice.
