(Glancing around, you see rows upon rows of contorted figures in paroxysms of stimulated agony-ecstasy, their hands scrabbling like talons raking the vacant air, as brutal black-visored guards patrol menacingly below)
Baron Sleng provides a virtual tour of the facility, as he makes his proposal:
-Well, what did you expect? Some blasted wilderness with chain gangs breaking rocks? Pah! Here the prisoners are put to work - in fact, one of our best clients, Paracosm Corporation, makes extensive use of the spare cerebral capacity of our prisoners in categorising, labelling and training their various virtual intelligence models. This is probably why the datasets in their hyperscale multitenancy cloud compute clusters are so accurate! Because who wouldn't trust a horde of demented ultraviolent miscreants and psychotic murderers to accurately tag thousands upon thousands of (pseudo) anonymous sensitive datasets hour upon hour, day upon day with no rest or reprieve? But you say you need... non-psychotic "volunteers", I see. Pah! You will have to pay, of course...
QM: For the one-off cost of 50+1d100 ISD, Baron Sleng will let you avail yourself of his prison barge, the Ramasun, and place himself at your disposal. As a former pirate, Baron Sleng also possesses useful knowledge of sectors and systems where corsairs are mostly likely to conduct marauding raids and their predations, though he himself would most likely be killed on sight by any pirates given his past act of betrayal.
You would effectively gain this as an asset. You notice also that this prison barge is heavily armoured and possesses many batteries of autoturrets (QM: imagine a CIWS or those autotargeting chainguns from The Expanse) ... a few of which could probably be spared, detached and put to use elsewhere...
