"Nah. It's just, uh- when you told me that you needed my help, and that I could really do something about Bella's injuries, I started paying a lot of attention. Y'know, bugging Squid about that radar scan for you, watching how her treatment took place, whatever I could. I guess I just picked up on it over time."
You feel the corners of your lips turning upwards. Honestly, you took him for a total jobber when you first met him. Hard not to when your first impression was him screaming in terror and running around. Even your bid for aid was mostly to calm him down, and you weren't fully certain he'd be an asset. But over the course of this mission, he's proven to be observant and competent enough to make a difference. Even though Gizamon doesn't have the highest combat power, the two of them get a passing grade if they're able to take it slow and think things through.
"Hey. Earlier, you said you weren't used to being a senior, right? That there were all these new recruits, and you were lost."
He nods slowly.
"Don't sell yourself short. You did a good job today. I think that when the time comes, you'll find that you know what to do after all. Have some confidence, don't let them push you around. There are some real bad eggs among them to crack."

He leans back in his chair and stirs his sweet tea anxiously. When he manages to find his words, his voice is a little shaky.
"Thanks. It means a lot to... to hear that from you two. Things are changing so fast, we lost so many people, I've been so worried about it all. But today? Today was good."
The two of you finish your drinks and enjoy the cool air of the cafeteria. You've both long since changed back to your usual outfits, discarding the sloppy disguises in favor of more comfortable attire. On a hunch, you forced him to do a hard reset, in case Hoverespimon did anything to your textures. There's been no noticeable change.
"Squid still hasn't sent us any message, huh?" He comments.
"I guess not. Hey, we have some time. Can you show me around? I wanna see how things have changed. And if not- I can just go bother Wind."
"He's not in right now. He's actually been doing a LOT of solo missions. The other day, he and Kaus Gammamon took down a Cargodramon."

"You're kidding. Like, just by themselves?"
"It was all over the news. It was in an office block. He was doing something unrelated, and it tried to intercept him."
While he has respectable power, Kaus Gammamon is NOT strong enough to defeat that Digimon by himself. Something is up. You wonder if they had some kind of bomb or gadget that did
the trick.
"It's fine, I don't need to see him today then. Maybe just show me the place. I've been thinking about the base a lot, it was in such a bad state when we left."
He slowly pushes himself out of his seat.
"Sure thing. Let's go."
