A schedule was made. Of course there were other assaults that were not led by the Primarch and his sons and so they took just that little bit more time tearing the heart out of the Mitu’s cities. In such a moment TalOS simply had an objective where they could use their time in the ultimate goal of the Mechanicum.
Orders were sent out to all who were present. That somewhere upon this planet the Blackstone Fortress had detected the presence of refined steel. Based on their knowledge gleaned from the Mitu such a thing should not have been possible for the races never used metal for its proper purpose.
So TalOS sent his sons forward to find what might be a remnant of humanity upon a world so foreign.
Both the city and countryside were scouted and searched thoroughly. Omnispex scanners searching each and every building for something that matched the presence of metal. Sometimes there was a hit, in which the Astartes crashed into the building and tore its occupants asunder before finding that the Xenos had something that could only be described as their Alien form of art. But these were not the source for it; the metal did not match up with the readings that were gained from the Blackstone Fortress.
The Astartes walked into a great hall, slaughtering all the Xenos that were inside with the impunity of a soldier. The Xenos might have had a chance but the Astartes finally found a moment to use their gas bombs, causing the Xenos to all sleep before they could even see their assailents. Such a simple thing it was for why would the Astartes risk damage to possible technology?
It was there that the Astartes saw the halls filled with what must have been artifacts of fallen empires. So much lost knowledge that was useless to the Astartes who studied their remains and instead made sure they were burnt to a crisp.
What the Astartes found though was a box the size of a las cannon sitting at one of the center displays. In an instant all their minds clicked and they called over the nearest Acillian who confirmed their suspicions.
Another piece of human technology held like some kind of trophy for the xenos. But the fools left it intact in their moment of loss, and for that it will be reunited to its rightful owners.
