>>6335245You emerge spotlessly through the black muck of the swamp, phasing through the tar-like mud as if you were a ghost, only reappearing after finding fully solid ground beneath your boots. You breathe in the dry air of the wasteland, stretching your legs a bit before starting to distance yourself from your own resting place.
In the distance, you spot a lone figure, her white dress seeming impractical for long travel to the naked eye but, before your discernment, reveals itself to be a magic item of considerable quality. Your eyes trail up to meet hers, and, for the first time in your new life, a sense of terror bursts in your chest, your heart beating hard enough for you to feel it in your throat as you see her face.
It’s Sophien.
You panic at first, instantly entering your Specter state and reeling back as fast as you can. However, as your body reels, your logical mind begins to put the pieces together: even for the slow-aging descendants of the People of the Sea, this girl is too young to be Sophien. Her hair is the wrong color, far more blue than silver, and her eyes are filled with a sense of passion and suppressed rage that the cold, almost inhuman-seeming Sophien could never possess. That, and her mana seems substantially weaker (though still stronger, if only slightly, than your own). It must be someone else, but you can’t deny the resemblance is uncanny.
As you inspect her power more closely, you see something even more shocking than that, if indeed this girl is related to Sophien— though a powerful layer of illusion magic coats her Mana Core, making it seem as though her Favored School were Dream Magic, such trickery is still a bit too simplistic to escape your perception. This girl is a necromancer.
