>Ask if she’s okay.
Clover looks down at her mug of warm tea for a moment, before looking back up at the former detective. “Holmsie, are you… is everything okay?”
Melissa’s wolf-ears continue to twitch. She closes her eyes tightly for a few moments, and the twitching subsides. The scarfed girl looks back up at Clover tiredly. “You should just finish your tea and head home. It’s getting late.”
“But…”
She waves her off weakly. “I’ll talk to you more about things tomorrow. I promise.” She gives a small smile. “You need a good night’s sleep.”
Clover shuffles her feet. “You’re not just saying that, right?”
Melissa shakes her head. “No, I mean it.” Her voice is firm. “It’s something you should probably know about, anyway.”
“…Okay.” Clover takes a sip of her tea, then realizes it just tastes like leaf-water. Glancing up at Melissa, she sets the cup down, and starts slowly tearing open sugar packets. The girl watches her with a slightly amused expression.
Eventually, Clover finishes her tea, and sets the empty cup down. The wolf-girl lingers and stays seated in her chair, unsure if she wants to leave. After a few more moments, the scarfed girl makes an executive decision, and stands.
“Alright, it was fun. It was nice talking to you today, Clover.” She shuffles a few papers on her desk uselessly, before making her way over and offering the wolf-girl her hand with a smile. “I’ll lead you out, and lock up. You shouldn’t keep your brother waiting.”
