As far as you saw it, only the Goddess could redeem the monster before you. Whatever his reasons, he was responsible for a myriad of death and terror going back several years now. It was because of him that Elizabeth was forced to flee her village and seek refuge at Garreg Mach. Of all the people you knew that you hoped could one day find redemption, Fritz was by far the lowest on that list.
>“Fat chance. You’re staying in there. Pray that Byleth shows you far greater mercy than I would.”
“Tsk…you’re no fun.” Fritz mutters, before leaning back against the cell wall. “Well, whatever. I got out of here once before, didn’t I? I’ll just have to wait.”
>“Good luck with that.” You turn towards the other prisoner sharing Fritz’s cell. Throughout your conversation with the dark mage, the Dukedom commander had not looked up once, seemingly lost in his own world. You didn’t think there wasn’t much information he could give you that you’d find pertinent to yourself. However, there was at least one thing he might be able to help you with. As a commander of the Dukedom armies, it was likely he’d interacted heavily with its leader, Cornelia Arnault. The same Cornelia who usurped the throne from Dimitri and was in all likelihood an Agarthan. Any information he could share about her might prove useful for dealing with her in the future.
>“Hey, you awake over there?” You call out to Adrian.
“Don’t bother.” Fritz snorts. “As far as roommates go, he’s pretty disappointing.”
>“I had some questions about Cornelia.” You address Adrian again, though this time, you’re far gruffer and more direct with your tone. You’ve never interrogated anyone before, so you’d have to learn as you went.
“That’s LADY Cornelia to you, swine.” Adrian finally speaks. “Who are you to refer to my lady so casually? I have no intention of sharing anything about her with scum like you. Now, piss off.”
“Ahahahaha!” Fritz laughs raucously. “He got your ass good, Blair! You should see your face!”
>“…You’re quite far from Fhirdiad. If you’re expecting Cornelia to come save you, you’re sorely mistaken. Tell me what you know about her, and maybe-“
“Are you still here, Witch?” Adrian spits at your feet. “I already told you that I won’t reveal anything about my lady to the likes of you. Whether I see her radiance again or not matters little to me. She has earned my undying loyalty, something a cretinous sellsword like you could never hope to understand.”
“Psst, hey, make fun of her looks next. Tell her she’s really manly.” Fritz whispers loudly to Adrian.
This was getting nowhere fast. You were liable to hit both these bastards before you could find out anything about Cornelia. Maybe that wasn’t so bad an idea.
