>>5256598Your first instinct is to attempt a squeamish decapitation of Griffith, but seeing how he has a boy under his arms and one of the strongest apostles that ever lived above the two of you, you step back and attempt to reason with Benny instead of resorting to violence.
"Benny, please don't listen to what Griffith has to say. if that's what you truly wish, I will take you with me. You have asked me twice, now i will give you one offer to join me or to simply return to your family."
"Y-Y-Y-You only say that now because s-s-someone gave me a better offer! You n-n-never wanted me here! You never gave me a ch-chance!"
"Your sister and your father still love you, regardless of what you think of me! Think of what they would say!"
"Th-Th-They wanted me to be free t-too! If I wasn't such a weakling, I would have left to look for a cure for my sister years ag-go!"
"Cure? Is your sister sick?" Griffith pretends not to be all-knowing for the sake of better manipulating the child in his arms. "Why, yes. Perhaps we could find a solution to that conundrum in given time."
Whatever words you can throw to place Benny at your side are deflected by Griffith and then used against you to be twice as effective in making him join the dark side. Maybe it's time to give up on that front and instead inquire the enemy on his internal logic.
"Griffith." You soften your voice when calling to him. "When are you going to realize you're still nothing more than a pawn? The rest of the God Hand sought your birth, just so they could use you. The currents of causality are nothing more than the chains that bind you, no matter how much you think they work for you instead. They were the ones who made your life as miserable as it was, and yet you still want to work with them? Why? All for your silly little dream, no matter how much you have to sacrifice to accomplish it? The sacrifices won't ever end, once they start. You of all people should know this!"
"You are sorely mistaken if that is the extent of your knowledge in the ways of causality." He surprisingly starts explaining his motivations. "By nature, The God Hand is cyclical. There were other fingers before me, and more members could certainly come to be, should the creator manifest it's desires onto our realm. The reason for that is due to human desires growing stronger with each passing century, increasing proportionately with our knowledge of what we cannot control. The greater the ambition, the greater the sacrifices. It is why all the fingers were once human, and are bound to be replaced eventually. But it was not them who altered history. For there to be a God Hand, A God needs to exist."
"A God?"
"Our motives are far too grand for you to understand, but know this: His desires are the same as yours and mine. And if he chose to give me wings, I shall take to the sky and forge my kingdom. Afterall, how many people do you know who have been brought back from the dead?"
