There was no going back now. You’d made your decision to support the Kingdom, even if it meant having to turn your blade against those friends you’d had in Leicester. Grasping your Killer Lance, you nod towards Ingrid and give the order for the Blackwings to divebomb the weak point that was pointed out to you. The Alliance’s solders are so preoccupied with holding off the tide of Faerghus knights that they hardly even notice you flying over them. Any air support that they might have counted on finds itself tied up fighting the Empire. As such, the infantry is ripe for the slaughter.
The line of Alliance soldiers is sent flying when hundreds of pounds of pegasi and wyvern crash into them from behind. Beathan lands on small-looking infantryman with a bone-shattering crunch that flattens them on the ground. Killer Lance in hand, you swing your spear in a wide-arc and are met with a spray of blood as it decapitates two soldiers and disembowels a third. One spearman tries to stab at you in a desperate thrust, but they are cut down by Shelley before they can get close enough. In just a few short seconds, the thin line of Leicester soldiers had been completely dismantled. Your attack has allowed for a wave of Kingdom soldiers to push through, led by none other than King Dimitri himself. The King is a grisly sight, covered in enough blood that he seems to have swum through it. An absolute demon, you think it a miracle from the Goddess herself that he can distinguish friend from foe. He swings Areadbhar wildly, knocking back seemingly dozens of Alliance soldiers with each swing. You’ve never seen anything so terrifying. Dimitri moves right past your group, acknowledging neither you nor Ingrid. He continues moving forward ahead of the rest of his men. A one-man-army, Dimitri ignores all fleeing Leicester soldiers save for the ones unfortunate enough to find themselves in his path. Those he cuts down mercilessly as he makes his way towards his destination, the imperial army.
The Alliance, which had already been split into two, is now divided even further. Most of the Kingdom’s army has made it through to the other side, but you can still see pockets of both factions fighting against each other.
“Looks like that did the trick.” Ingrid says next to you. “Come, let’s follow Dimitri from above.” Ingrid takes flight. Their job here done, the Blackwings follow her into the sky one by one. Before you can take off though, something heavy suddenly slams into you with enough force to knock you off mount. You hear Beathan whine loudly as you’re sent flying to roll across the corpse-strewn ground.
