>>5945628>>5945631>VAMPIRESI mentioned on the last qtg I was trying to desperately think of some clever contemporary twist on vampires, it is really quite hard, I am trying to imagine some original or unique approach to it.
An idea I was thinking about is to make it so that there is no distinction between vampires and hunters; there is basically no way to tell them apart.
So if you think of every vampire film, there is always this distinction, whether it was from the early proto gothic novels (vampires are foreigners / outsiders threatening Anglican England seducing all the young noblewomen or maybe it is Roman Catholicism or Papists or something) or later on they are a supernatural force with ancient lineage etc preying upon beauty, youth. Then you have all the dhampir stuff mixed progeny of human vampire bloodlines etc like Blade as a daywalker or Bloodrayne the videogame lol. I guess in Bloodborne the protagonist is basically a vampire although it is never even mentioned (all those blood bullets and bloodletting cutting saws, Cainhurst level etc).
So some idea where the hunters have taken on the attributes of vampires (maybe they have ingested vampire blood for strength? A bit like the ending of 30 Days Of Night etc) and also the vampires themselves are hidden unknowable unseen unmentioned, but there is really no means of distinguishing between hunter and hunted. I actually had this weird thought playing Arena Breakout I guess it applies to any looter extraction shooter lol, but basically all cultures and societies have some form of taboo or rite against desecrating the dead (it still happened, Egyptian tomb robbers etc but it was never met with anything other than cultural approbation and harsh punishment) but in a strange way the ethos of these videogames (maybe a legacy of post Soviet economic looting trauma from the Russian developers lol) is they are essentially inculcating and training a mindset of looting from corpses lol, this is seen as the means to "win" the victory condition and necessary to survival (in fact the scoring is such that more looting equals more rank points lol) And there is this weird scene in the Francis Ford Coppola Dracula (1992) which closely follows Bram Stoker's novel, where van Helsing gleefully desecrates the corpse of Lucy Westenra, encouraging her husband to transfix the heart of his dead bride (think about the imagery, this is the first act of "penetration" of his unconsummated marriage) before van Helsing decapitates her head in a fountain of gore, whilst this is claimed as the means to destroy a vampire ironically this rite immortalises the vampire or could be said to give birth to the vampire myth which is then re-enacted again and again across films and books and games etc.
So imagine a scenario where hammering a stake through the heart CREATES a vampire lol, that might cause a bit of a shock lol
