The AI? The two Gizamon? You spare one look as you turn and run. It turns out to be both. The second Gizamon comes into view, and you spy a lumpy mass of green hanging from its jaws. It tilts its head back as it chews, and the half-deleted Wormmon thrashes painfully in its grip. Large portions of its textures are already corrupted beyond repair.
Coming up behind it is a humanoid figure, that quickly catches you in its red light. Without Wormmon to gum up the sentinels, they've been able to advance even with two Gizamon ripping into their numbers. The entire mob has reason to chase you at once, but they're disjointed and uncoordinated. The three Digimon constantly bite at their flanks, one slower than the others, while the servitors pursue you with a single-minded determination. Your real ID hasn't been flagged by them, but you don't have time to refresh your c1oak while on the run. It could fade any time soon and let them blacklist you.
Damn it, damn it, damn it. Now they know with absolute certainty that a human is skulking around in the sewers. Phascomon runs ahead, the both of you ignoring the demands of the NPCs to halt.
<span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-g">"USER [ERROR. ERROR. ERROR.], YOU ARE IN VIOLATION OF THE DIGITAL LIFEFORM CONSERVATION ACT AND TRESPASSING UPON VITAL SYSTEM ACCESS INFRASTRUCTURE. SUBMIT YOURSELF FOR DISCIPLINARY REVIEW AND IMMEDIATE CUSTODY."</span></span>
"Go to hell!"
<span class="mu-s">"What she said!"</span>
You remain alert as you leave them behind. A deep scan can still shatter your metadata obfuscation, but thankfully, the NPCs are too busy being torn apart by Gizamon to conduct such a thing. There are more of them than you've seen in any surface squads. Your earlier act of sabotaging the entrance must have prompted them to flood the sewers with units until the malicious code was exhausted. The act of spite towards them has created issues for you once again.
But it could have gone worse. You've avoided injury by utilizing whatever tools and knowledge you've picked up over the last week. It was a close call, you wouldn't have been able to avoid another one of the Gizamon's attacks once it wised up.
You and Phascomon run until you stop hearing the sound of battle. You're both tired, but neither stops until you feel safe enough.
