"Same thing as last time. You two split up while I check out the lobby here. Maruyama, you'll head towards the managerial side of the place." You toss the keycard over to him. He freaks out and nearly sends it flying when he tries to catch it with his butterfingers. He manages to eventually get it after a solid twenty seconds.
"R-right." Maruyama huffs in obvious exhaustion. "Time to summarize more paperwork." <<span class="mu-b">"At least I'm out of the office. Count your blessings when you can, Daido."</span>>
"Kiara. I bet there's a pretty nice scoo-" "She's already gone." Maruyama interrupts you. You look around to see where she went. She's already heading down the left hallway. You and Maruyama blankly stare in the general direction Kiara went into. Maruyama silently separates from you, leaving you all alone in the lobby.
You start to wander around the lobby now that you're left alone with your thoughts. Now that you're stuck playing 'spot the camera', you take a moment to look around the environment more. Aside from the staircase in the middle and the ticket booth near the entrance, all that left of the former decorations is dust, ash, and mostly rotted away wood.
You're not quite sure where the cameras would be hidden given that's barely anywhere to hide.
[PERSON OF INTEREST] That's what they expect you to think. Check the piles of dust. There might be something left there.
You're obviously hesitant to go digging through dust like a schizo but you don't have a better idea. You get down onto your knees and start working your hands through the piles of dust. You feel something inside of the pile between your fingers.
When you pull your hand out, you find a torn cable with small wires poking out. As you try to pull on it, there's a LOT of resistance. Like trying to pull out a plant that has a deep root system in the ground. So, it's not a camera but it has to connect to something. You run your hand through the cable and follow after it to see where it goes.
It was hard to notice in the low light and the sheer blanket of dust on everything but the whole floor of the lobby has cables hidden away in swallow grooves on the floor. You wouldn't even notice that you're stepping on them.
Some of which leads to the ticket booth and the base of the stairs. With some quick searching, you find what you were looking for. Cameras. Small squares barely bigger than a bottlecap. You found one on each side of the computer monitor at the ticket booth, alongside what seems like three or four all over the railings of the staircase.
[PERSON OF INTEREST] Not their work. This is cheap, shoddy stuff that you didn't even have to TRY to find.
[PERSON OF INTEREST] THEIR cameras are small enough to be hidden in food and in tiny imperfections in the wall. AND THEY WOULD BE WIRELESS.
Wait, if there's cables all over the place, there has to be connected to somewhere. You focus on the cabling on the ground. They seem to be trailing to one specific wall to the west...
