With a lack of answers on the former question, you decide to voice the latter.
"Discovery?" Maddie repeated. She seemed to have a habit of doing that. "Oh! You mean from the tall fairy girl?"
"Yeah, it was pretty obvious she was around." Her sister added. "We just went into the ground whenever someone was trying to look for us."
"Explain." You said.
"I don't know what to tell you." Millie continued. "We just went to where our bodies were buried and then fell asleep again."
Yumi gained a rare pensive mood from those words.
"And how did you know there was even a fae girl to avoid?" You asked how they evaded Mel's recon.
"She was... loud?" Maddie said. "Like whenever she was around, it felt like it was pretty obvious a fairy beguiler was hiding. Not that we ever saw her, so we have no idea what she looks like."
"How do you know she's a beguiler?"
"She did a bunch of known beguiler tricks and illusions while she was walking around. Almost all of us are, uh, were beguilers, so we're super familiar with that stuff."
"You think the tall fairy girl nearby?" You asked.
"Nope. I'd be able to sense it if she was." Maddie said.
Seems like they were all ignorant that your beguiler was nearby. Mel still had an advantage in her invisibility.
"How can you be sure?" You continued to feign ignorance.
"Perks of being a ghost I guess." She replied with a shrug.
"What about the rest of you?" You asked. "Can any of you sense anything?" They all replied in the negative.
You frowned when hearing this. On one hand, Mel was no slouch when it came to invisibility and illusions (unless you count that whole misadventure with the cave, but that was a fluke that Mel had learnt from), and you were willing to believe in her competence after she spent so much time and effort working on herself. On the other hand, you had a mind to not trust the words of dead bandits. At least not until Yumi spoke.
"Honorable Master-sama," Yumi began, "A beguiler's mirage alerts us spectral phantoms to their very own presence like a beacon in the night. We both know this already. And I find nothing to indicate that a beguiler, much less a faeborn, is anywhere close to us."
That was Yumi's way of reassuring you that Mel had successfully hid her presence from the ghosts.
"Honorable Master-say-what-now?" Maddie said.
"Master-sama is the ruler of the manor and a renown Savant Lord. I have found him to be worthy of being my Master." Yumi boasted. "He alone is the only being with enough strength to control the cursed servant that is Yumi! Master-sama holds complete dominion over my powers, as I am to him through this magic crystal wand!"
For a moment you tense, a healthy dose of paranoia keeping you aware of the reactions of these ghostly convicts. Though there didn't seem be anything to fear in that front, as none of them had the will to fight against you. As realization dawned upon them you regretted not introducing yourself sooner. Their expressions were priceless.
