>>5803118You wanted to make sure that you and Diana were on an equal footing. She was the pegasus knight you had the most experience fighting alongside, after all. With Shelly gone, you would no longer be able to utilize the Triangle Attack that the three of you had grown so fond of. Now more than ever, you’d need to rely on her. You had no doubt she’d want revenge on the Ace that took Shelly’s life, and you intended for her to be ready for that moment.
“Eh? You want us to train together?” Diana asks, mildly surprised. You find the girl lounging about in the monastery’s greenhouse, amongst all the exotic plants. “Sure, it’s been a while since we’ve ran any drills together. Let’s do it!”
The next week is spent not just training together with Diana, but also the rest of the Blackwings. The members of the Frosted Shrikes and the Purple Axe Knights that you recently acquired seem to integrate well with the others. Given that they were all trained sellswords with proven records of success, it was no surprise. Eleanor’s riders defer to her with the utmost respect and admiration, and you even find yourself learning a thing or two from how she commands her subordinates. Having her and Ava leading the company’s winged component while you focused on the Aces should prove to be remarkably helpful.
As for Rocks, Uriel seemingly had his hands full trying to get the man to remember specific formations and maneuvers. While slightly frustrating, it can’t be denied that Rocks excels at the one thing that has seemingly gotten him this far. Watching the Purple Axe Knights initiate a charge is a terrifying sight, and you aren’t even the one standing in front of them. So long as you could point the dunce in the right direction, the enemy was sure to buckle. After all, it wasn’t just the Hellwings in the sky you’d have to worry about, but the Empire’s ground component as well. The Purple Axe Knights should help to ensure that no annoying archers would be trying to pick you off from down below.
“Die!” Diana shouts from atop her pegasus. She stabs at you with her spear, and you deftly knock the weapon aside with your own, maneuvering Beathan further away.
>“What’s with you?!” You shout back, jabbing with your Killer Lance. The weapon misses as Diana’s steed zigzags around and behind you.“Sorry! I’m just trying to get in the mood!” She catches up to you, and the two of you exchange blows with your spears, blocking and parrying each other in perfect rhythm.
>“That’s enough, you’re going to wear me out! Let’s land!”
