Thus becoming much more necessary when the ship AIs had to be shut down/put to sleep during the Men of Iron rebellion. Perhaps Navigators and Astropaths are to the Dark Age theequivalent of using 10,000 slaves to load a Macro Shell into place because the Auto-loader is broke.
