The 2nd Rangdan War, which it was now officially recognized by the chronicles of the Mechanicum, continued on as TalOS began stationing himself upon the planet of Xana. With the Death Guard's fervent style of warfare only a small fleet had made their way to Xana. With TalOS’s presence upon the planet though it was easily repelled by both the Acillians, Skitarii, and Death Guard who were stationed upon the planet.
The years went by and reports of the Dark Angel’s successes were starting to be carried to TalOS. The Angels, who had killed the majority of their own Chapter the last time they fought the Rangdan, were now perfectly within their element as Lion El’ Johnson led his sons in battle. They were defeats though as the grueling conditions they fought was not the type of war they prefered.
It was during this time that the Twentieth Legion, Alpha Legion, finally made their presence known to the rest of the Imperium.
Such a moment to be revealed was confusing to TalOS as he wondered why Alpharius would bring his sons out of hiding for a war like this one. However TalOS suspected it was his brother’s analysis of how the Dark Angels fought and where their successes lied.
It was foolish to attack the Xenos head on. One needed to make a proper layered defence that would absorb the majority of their forces and prevent the chance of an encirclement. This was where the Death Guard thrived for they were able to activate rear guards to defend flanks if the need ever came. The other, which TalOS also noticed, was that the Xenos were ultimately one large intelligence.
How they got that information was what their mutant forms saw and what their mutant slaves previously knew. Such was the reasoning that the Puppeteer controlling these xenos were blindsided by the sudden existence of an entire Legion upon their easternmost flank.
It was a slaughter.
However where there was success near Xana with the Death Guard and the Alpha Legion the further west you went things became worse and worse. It was during this time that news arrived that Ferrus Manus, Primarch of the Iron Hands Legion, was encircled by the Xenos and disappeared.
It was the news that announced the new War Council meeting which brought the news to TalOS.
