>his enemies will be decievers and persecuiters of Christians. They will lie about Jesus' teachings, and some will pretend to him him. How many fake Jesus's have you met? Just since this started, I've seen it happen 3 times myself.A man pipes up.
>I saw one up in Dakota, heard he lead a mass suicide.>That happened in Cleveland too, she was having them 'cleanse people'The preacher speaks again.
>yep, and every false christ hurts people, uses emotive language to manipulate, some even kill people. Like jonestown. Now back to the passage. He says you'll be brought up before councils and beaten in synagogs, because the people being abused confess Jesus christ, who told people to love God and to love oneanother. That's the people who get their teeth kicked in and grilled here. You notice the synagogs are still going to be around long after the Temple is destroyed. These things happened to Jesus disciples, of course, but in their way they happen now and will keep happening until the end. All the wars and famines and plagues are just a part of the progression, they don't bring anything to an end, they just go on. You notice the same.thing in your life? I notice it in mine. The wars we fight qith our enemies, with circumstances and with ourselves are continuous, and they don't bring about change. We are ALWAYS in a state of war, always in a state of conflict, and we need Jesus to get us out of it.>the aspects of the people opposed to Christ, then are in government and they run the synagogs. Some people have said that the bit about synagogs is a generalization about 'religion', and there is some truth to that, but it is specific to the judaic opposition to Jesus, and to salvation. Jesus charged these people with "shutting the gates of heaven in people's faces," and he says "you forbid them to enter the Kingdom of God, and neither do you go in yourselves." He's not merely saying they're wrong, he is saying they are actively opposed to people going to heaven, and escaping hell. So beware when someone assures you that hell is not real, as if our current situation is something other than a foretaste of hell. Anyone who tries to convince you that there is not judgement is trying to get you to do something against your interests, and he is not following Jesus, whatever else he might be promising. Let's pray.>Lord help us to not be beguiled by people who are against you, or to believe in false promises. Help us to deal fairly with oneanother, and to be grateful to you for your kindness to us. Please protect us from our enemies, and keep us from being harmed by the monsters out in the world. Let our enemies turn to you and repent of their evil, if they will we know you will change them. And help us to endure this trial as we await the true resurrection. In Christ's name, Amen. You hear a steady murmer of
>AmenFrom nodding people around the room, and then these others rise and depart back to their work.
