The first thing the Governor of Lostos saw was the stars coming down from the sky. Such sights were ill omens for them, he knew that for sure. Already he could feel the air start to sicken of paranoia and fear at what was rapidly becoming what might be the new greatest enemy on the horizon.
“Governor Astros.” A Bolgie asked as he steadily made his way into the office, “The Admiral has called a full retreat from the incoming forces. They will be regrouping out of harassment range and requests that we hold steady from the incoming attacks.”
“He says that yet he abandoned his post from these damned humans! Does he realize what would happen if these backwater species pierced the shields of my city?”
“I am sure he is aware.” The Bolgie answered with the same softness all of his race held in their hearts, “These Humans are not like their majority. Their souls are but mockeries of their fellows among the stars and have already demonstrated cold calculation. I think… the previous estimates stated that we must out number them three to one to achieve a complete victory.”
The Governor shook his neckless head as he once again looked out into the fields before their city, “If such stories are comparable I declare a state of emergency and the raising of the Guardian.”
“As per regulation Governor Astros.” The Bolgie said as he lowered his head solemnly, “Do you confirm the order to raise the Guardians? Raising a Guardian will result in the death of both Bolgie and Sloog alike.”
“Confirmation given. I will not underestimate the enemy like our profound Admirals have done! Tell the Militias to think of themselves on the battlefield with the Arch Enemy for these humans can be capable of anything at this point.”
“I shall inform them.” The Bolgie answered as he gave a bow and started to make his way out of the room.
The Sloog looked out of the window once again only to bear witness to a flash of immense psychic power. He could feel an ache going through his entire body as the Warp was torn asunder for barbaric purposes.
Where the light happened stood a figure. Astros would not have cared about it but that is was so massive that he could pick out the fine details of it from here.
These humans had Gargants. Thus he made the right decision to have the Guardians raised.
