>>5596970Normally used for catering when important events are held on the observation deck, EoN quickly rummages through the kitchen’s supplies to find some freeze dried coffee. Leaning your weight on the impassive floating orb that is WEAVY you watch blurry eyed as your Science officer and doctor begins mixing up a cocktail of caffeine and other more potent stimulants in a mug.
“Creamer an’ two sugars please doc…helps the meds go down.” You slur, attempt a charming smile, but the Tyllano just eyes you mildly.
“You’re delirious, Dallas.” She states dryly, shoving the mug into your unsteady hands. “Drink up, and don’t burn yourself. Or do, might help bring you to your senses.” She pulls out her med-scanner and gives you a once over, before nodding and striding off towards the far end of the deck.
“I’ll go find our other sleeping beauty, while you pull yourself together.” She says in parting, her head turning almost 180 degrees to look back at you in an unnerving display of Tyllano biology.
You shudder and sip your steaming beverage while continuing to lean on WEAVY for support. You can dully hear the stilted chirp of Kiro's ‘command voice’ and your crew's responses as they drift down from above. You're too tired to even work up your usual exasperation at the little scamp's insistence on speaking like 'a real Captain' should.
"Mr La'afette…are our forward tubes… reloaded?”
“Yes, Sir, I took the liberty of prioritising our usual loadout. Two LRFs, four LRC3s and an additional two SRC6s have finished loading to replace the expended munitions.” You barely hear the Tac officer’s soft reply. You do prefer the better defensive capabilities of the short range conventional counterbattery munitions over having more of the adaptable but ultimately less manoeuvrable nukes. Let the dedicated attack torpedoes do the attacking and the defence the defending, you say.
You take another small sip of the bitter, scalding liquid and tune out the rest of the stimuli around you, letting your mind truly rest and recover from its ordeals. As the minutes tick by and you imbibe more and more of the potent concoction, you feel the effects begin to lift your mood and rouse your mind back to its usual speed. You know that combat stims can technically boost your mental abilities past their baseline but it seems your Science officer has deftly mixed you up something restorative that won't cause the inevitable crash that normally comes with the use of such stimulants.
