I think it is because of that phenomena I mentioned where there is so much lore spread over many threads, such a history of player interaction and game involvement, I tried reading a bit but I could not follow or comprehend all the names and setting detail. And I would say that whilst the aesthetic is not entirely to my taste hehe I think it has a unique and very distinctive look - that is generally what art is about, even if you may not necessarily enjoy or understand the appeal etc.
I think though if the author is creating all that unique art and putting some effort into it, the game clearly deserves some audience, and if the players and the author are engaged and enjoying themselves, that is all that one can ask for!
