>>5707755“The mercenary fighter was…magically enhanced during his duel. That much is plain to see.” She translates. “As such, we are left with no choice but to disqualify him. The winner of the second round is Manus!” She points down towards the Berserker, who is currently laying on his back and bleeding out. He look’s a stone’s throw away from death.”
“This is bullshit!” Corrine screams. “You cheated first!” She points towards Maeve. “You threw…something at that Berserker that made him rage!”
“Who? Me?” Maeve feigns ignorance. “How dare you! The Oracle is an impartial judge of the Cúig Triail! If I ‘threw’ something as you so claim, then produce evidence! Surely the bottle would still be present in the arena, no?”
You look down in the ring, which resembles a bloody trash heap more than an actual arena. Covered in garbage from the Sreng crowd, it would be impossible to find the remnants of the bottle that Maeve threw, which were further crushed underfoot by Manus during his berserker rage.
“Why am I even talking to you, you underground-dwelling snake monster FREAK! I’ll g-“ Corrine is pulled down back to her seat by Theo before she can shout further obscenities at the Agarthan’s way.
“Hmm.” Yara pontificates, taking a drag of her pipe. “I wonder if these were the unforeseen circumstances I saw.”
>“You aren’t helping.” You grit your teeth as the shaman slinks back into the shadow.A woman suddenly teleports into the arena. While somewhat older, she’s still quite the beauty, in a savage sort of way. Her dark hair obscures half her face as she wades through the trash to stand before Manus’ unconscious form. With a wave of her staff, the Berserker is teleported out of the arena, back into the stands.
“To win even when he loses. That man truly does have the devil’s luck.” She says in perfect common tongue. “That’s a shame for you though, vampire. Better luck lest next time.”
Clay sighs. “You would have been interesting. And…perhaps less humiliating.” He exits the arena to take his seat in the stands.
This woman was Morag, the Druid. Amongst the Sreng fighters, she was the most mysterious, dwelling alone in a remote cave in the northern mountains. Rumor had it that she was hundreds of years old but retained her beauty by draining the life essence of her victims. She was also the only one in Sreng capable of using Warp magic. But what good could that provide her here?
