Ironically they would probably be most valuable on the type of planet which you just declined to choose and annex lol ie an industrial / trading type world, similar tech to our own atomic age with the capability to extract and make use of these ores. But depending upon the type of tech / inhabited worlds you find, you probably can still sell them for something. I would say the ore cargo load could give you a +10 build progress base addition in construction (this cannot be applied to your 44% complete drone fleet as it is at Cygnus, but if you build something from the mining platform, you can add this bonus)
