There appear to be two approaches to Diocotron Station:
- the spinward (counterclockwise) direction, appears to be guarded by bristling banks of rocket turrets. This strikes you as unusual for a scientific research outpost. Your Armed Merchant Cruiser ship guns actually outrange these weapons - you could probably blast them apart from great distance... but at risk of cutting the station apart entirely. If you were to attempt to target and lock the defense turrets separately and with precision, minimising damage to the station structure, this would necessitate bringing your ship within range of the station defense rockets...
