The venison steak, as morbid of a joke as it was, was actually quite good if a bit gamey. The 'syndi-cake' Alexis ordered was a cream-filled roll which tasted okay. She said something about it being banned in five Districts for some reason?
"Fuck, you think THAT'S weird? I once heard of a guy who was hooking up with FIFTY different Drones. You would not BELIEVE how jealous those husks can get." Alexis sneers as she recounts yet another story. "There were only bones left when we found his body."
"I once knew of a Harvester who, well, 'consumed' her male partner's special part in one bite when he cheated on her. The amount of blood coming out of it was impressive." Naomi chuckles under her bandage wrap mask.
You begin to tune out all of the weird stories until, before you know it, the four of you are stumbling out of the restaurant in a drunken haze. Kiara and Alexis disappear into the streets of this section of District 24, leaving you and Naomi to wander back into the train.
>KIARA AND ALEXIS LEFT THE PARTY.
"So." You try your best to keep your focus as your vision blurs. "What's up with you and Alex? What's your history?"
"...It's a long story." Naomi whimpers out. A sad, wistful note drenches her words as she continues to mutter. "After I left the Silvers, I ran here. This used to be my home. My district. We met when I was 30 and, well, we worked together for a few decades. That's how I got these-" She gestures at her old tribal tattoos. "It used to be a tradition back in X-Corp. It was my squadron's tattoos."
"I'm guessing it didn't end well?" You mutter as the two stumble onto the train that got you here. It's empty, like it always is. All you can do as it travels back to your district is to talk with Naomi.
"No. We were the only members left after an incident I rather not speak on. Needless to say, I didn't feel like I deserved to come back here. It's been years since I talked to him directly. But, well, he owed me. So he actually gave me a Nest permit. Tried to, at least."
You raise an eyebrow. "Why the hell would you reject that? Aren't those places the best places to live in the City?"
"Yes. But, look, I don't feel comfortable explaining why I rejected it." Naomi clicks her tongue. "All I can say is this. I've been with X-Company for a long while but after what happened, I didn't feel like I deserved to be here."
There's an odd silence as the two of you wait on the empty train. Outside the train is pure darkness aside from the blips of lights from the buildings in the City. "If I could give you some advice? The only home you'll ever truly have is the home you make for yourself. You'll leave your district eventually. Especially if THEY are following you."
The train eventually stops at G-Corp's district. Before Naomi exits the train, she looks back at you for a split second. "All that matters is you survive. Anything and anyone else comes second. That's how a good person lives." How vague and ominous.
