Almost on cue, Ben slammed into one of the dropships and ripped one of their cannons straight out of its socket. You gave him an appreciative nod and continued running. More projectiles came flying from all sides. You expertly wove, dove and slid through them, closely following the path that Khonshu had laid out for you. And every few seconds or so, your hand would shoot out to snatch a projectile out of the air of its own volition.
The archer scowled and blew a bubble as she refocused her aim. She’d apparently been chewing gum this entire time. Talk about relaxed…
She fired a volley of arrows in rapid succession, and you could tell that their grouping was too tight for you to dodge them easily. You raised your hand, preparing to intercept them, when a large, spectral mummified hand formed directly in front of you!
The hand blocked the arrows, and continued to do so for the next few shots, before crumbling to dust and dropping the arrows at your feet. Feeling instinct take over, you kept your hand raised, clenched your fist and pointed it at the archer. Three arrow tips emerged from between your knuckles like Wolverine’s claws, and the mummy hand fired them directly at her.
The archer’s bubble popped, and she dove out of the way just in time to avoid being skewered, giving you enough time to close the distance and-
The mummy hand extended a web of bandages towards the ship, wrapping around it and pulling you closer to the cabin. This must be how Ben feels when he’s swinging through the city!
You landed directly in front of the archer, and she scrambled to her feet. She swung her bow at your head, and you easily caught it, causing her to freeze up.
<span class="mu-b">“Aw shit-”</span>
You yanked the bow out of her hands and grabbed her by the collar with your mummy hand. You slammed her from one wall to the next, then up into the ceiling, and finally, down to the floor with a loud thud. The girl let out a pitiful moan, and stopped moving shortly after.
Once you were sure that she wasn’t going to be getting up anytime soon, you relieved her of her quiver, several darts and daggers, a utility belt outfitted with tools and lockpicks, and…
Your eyes found the discarded bow in the corner of the cabin, and you knelt to retrieve it. And that’s when you saw the beautiful longsword lying in the corner. It must have belonged to the archer, and you were lucky that she didn’t try to use it against you. This thing looked sharp!
And now, it was yours.
You took a minute or two to equip your stolen gear, and started testing the bow to get a feel for it.
<span class="mu-s">“Oh yeah. This’ll do nicely…”</span>
Your moment of glory was short-lived, however, as multiple armed men and women began dropping from the other ships to surround your friends. Unfortunately for them, though, Ana and the Mask Maker chose that time to reveal themselves.
The huntress and the Limbo demon pounced on them, and began tearing through their ranks with a kind of feral brutality.
