The door to the tavern was opened quickly as Lucian walked into the room with the full armor of a Black Knight. Before entering the place Lucian had not heard a single word yet the place was filled with men and women of all kinds. They had known he was approaching this hole in the wall and were simply acting like scared animals upon his approach.
They hoped that if they did not move, did not make a sound, that the attention of a Knight would not be drawn upon them. Even the idea of everyone ganging upon Lucian was far from their thoughts, for they would all be killed in the whirlwind of violance.
Such was the strength of a Knight against Peasants and the reason the order of Nobility was held so easily. No Peasant could go against those blessed by the Lady of the Lake and their bloodlines.
The situation was cemented when Adok walked in behind the Black Knight. Clearly he was annoyed at the situation they were all in. The words the Dwarf said earlier about wanting to get a drink while they were out resounded within the ears of Lucian.
They might not be able to get that beer.
“Tavern Keeper!” Adok announced as he walked up to the bar and slammed it with a pair of silver coins in his hands, “Three beers, I’m parch!”
It was like a spell being broken, the words of the Dwarf que for everyone to know that at the very least their deaths were not near. It started with one whisper, then as the dwarf downed a beer conversation and hesitant laughter finally broke.
The dwarf placed the drink on the bar, the bartender quickly coming over to pick up the glass from the alcoholic creature. The dwarf glanced at his fellow who was now standing behind him, “Think this is as good a place as any to start the investigation?”
“It will have to do.” Lucian admitted as he took a glance.
