Quoted By:
Hector have a glance to his new companions.
After a battle, a couple meal, and sparing he has a broad idea of each one's capacities.
Mathias is easily the strongest. Almost two meter tall, he is far more than a brute as his speed and precision match the strength of his blow. Hector grasped he was not the head of the squad only because he was the latest arrival. However, if they survived, he would have been the most serious contender. His main defect seems to be unrelented ambition. He's way more eager to lead than to follow.
Charles, in contrast, is a scrawny man that probably missed too much meals in crucial phases of development. His lack of strength and proper training shows. However he's the most liked member of the crew thanks to his admirable sense of humor.
Lucien is the second strongest of the team. Not really bright, he is equally contemptfull, as if believing himself above most of mankind.
Boniface is pretty average - for a knight, that is. Bigger and stronger than most farmers, he's really devoted to the Mother, prays first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and says the graces at meal time.
René is also fitting on the small-size of the scale. Quite quiet, he packs a surprising efficiency and precision despite his lack of strength and low-quality gear, displaying technique on par with Mathias. He might even take down Lucien in a real fight. His down-to-earthness and reliability makes him one of the most-liked member of the crew, much to his embarassment.
Pauline is the only woman of the squad. Her physical prowess is on the lower side for a knight, still outmatching the smaller ones and your usual peasant. She keeps a distance to other members of the group, for decency's sake.
Last, but sadly least, is Eugene. A physical strength evenly matched by Pauline coupled with an insufferable ego, downright scornful to René, Charles and Guillot, almost ignoring Pauline and only barely respecting Hector himself, Mathias and Lucien.
the 1,16 array have been assigned to the dead commander. Natural selection as it's finest.
