Mel, practicing her fae magic, discovered that she had a couple new tricks up her sleeve.
The first of these was a fae skill named Flight Blessing. It was a self-describing effect; all under this blessing would be able to fly temporarily, so long as one remained in Mel's line of sight. Mel described it as a magical string which tethered her allies to her mana. This skill would be stronger the more Mel practiced it, and would ideally act like the stereotypical fairy dust that could make people fly for a while.
And speaking of flight, Mel was doing well practicing on that front. She needed to work on her physical stamina to combat the wind currents. Also, she mentioned how using too much fae magic in a day made her feel lightheaded.
Your beguiler also learned how to create a unique magical circle called a Fairy Circle— or Fairy Ring— as described in the fairy book she bought from Centria. Unlike other magic circles, it relied on natural items such as flowers and mushrooms that were imbued by Mel's fae magics. Any illusion and fae power would be enhanced for the caster that stepped foot in it. Making a physical one could potentially summon fairies.
Right now Mel could only make smaller, temporary circles— barely enough for a couple of people to use at once— but in the future she might be able to make Fairy Circles that were bigger and permanent so long as the mana to sustain them was available.
You noticed that Mel was becoming more mischievous than usual, even going as far as to play some innocent pranks.
"Don't worry about it, Master!" She reassured you. "I'm just getting in the spirit of having fae blood coursing through my veins. I read that the more mischievous you are the better fairy stuff works."
"Right." You said. "Just try not to go overboard."
You were gonna keep an eye on her for now.
Anyway, Ruby Rose also gained experience in her spellwork. Your mastermind made her mana usage more efficient, exerting as little effort as possible to make powerful spells (as powerful as a spell could be in this world, at least), all while having spells be more complicated than normal. Although you could tell that her mind was elsewhere— moreso considering how to scheme against Rostchilde.
Ayane was getting stronger with every passing day, now being physical strong enough to run in a suit of armor for more than an hour. Like Ruby and Mel, your old kitsune also practiced with magic. She could now use Fire Missile, which was a fire-aligned and more powerful version of Magic Bolt. Also, she was able to make her fire magic more resistant against the rain (which was apparently a feat that was more complicated than usual, since fire magic was intrinsically connected to mana).
Bertha was having fun thinking about all the foods she could whip up, especially now that she had a reliable source of goat milk. She informed you that those goats would be safe and happy all winter, so long as they were given food and care.
