<span class="mu-s">AGE 757, PLANET OF THE KAIS</span>
“Mhrrrrmmm...” you hear the elderly Kai mutter as he sits under the tree, staring into his crystal ball with his arms crossed. Knowing that he wants to talk to someone, but doesn't want to ask, you stop working on the special technique you have been preparing should you need an ace in the hole against the Saiyan Karn, walking over to him. You come to a stop a foot away, kneeling before the ancient being.
“Is everything alright, honored elder?” you ask, Elder Kai looking up from the ball to you. Acting as if he hadn't been watching you through his nearly closed eyes the entire time you'd been walking over. “You seem troubled. Would it perhaps be something going wrong in the mortal realm?”
“You could call it that. Take a look.” he says, gesturing to his seeing orb. You look up, peering into the ball only to see a familiar face. That of the Berserker God, the very man you've been training to subdue should the need arise. Except he's on a planet you don't recognize, fighting a being the same size as him. You watch the fight as Karn battles the unfamiliar god, his wife in her tiny divine form flipping in and out around him, attacking the being from unexpected angles.
“Who is that they are fighting?” you ask, brows furrowing. “I am unfamiliar with that deity. Is he perhaps one of the New Gods?”
“You have been keeping up with your studying, as well as your training. That thing is one of the beings of the Fourth World, yes. Specifically Apokolips, not New Genesis.” Elder Kai says, looking from the orb to you. His expression serious as you understand that important detail. “His name is Darkseid, the son of Yuga Khan and Dread Lord of Apokolips. Or, if you prefer his more common title; the God of Evil.”
“What is a New God doing in the mortal realm?” you ask him, genuinely curious. “Do you believe that he intends on taking Karn down himself?”
“No, not likely. For the past year or two, he has been invading and trying to conquer worlds in the mortal realm for their resources.” Elder Kai says, switching the view in the orb to another planet. One that, even from space is seemingly covered in volcanoes and death. “This is Apokolips, a world exploited to near-death under its dark ruler. The planet now needs outside resources to continue its industry. Most specifically, people.”
“Hmm?” you hum as the view again shifts back to the invading force. Where you see unnatural creatures grabbing the natives, the Muun people, and dragging them into their portals. “Why are they taking the people through the portals? Does this Darkseid need them as slaves, perhaps?”
