While your people have always understood the smooth, lumpy, discoloured rock that is occasionally found in the mountains near their home to be a big harder than the rest of the stone, it is only after they try to more industriously mine it that they truly understand, to their unending complaints, exactly how much harder it is. Unfortunately, their complaints fall on deaf ears, the command of their god (and wide-eyed, frenzied craftsman that have begun to work with what is now better understood as metal) as unavoidable and undeniable as gravity itself. Fire Hardening developed.
Though these seared black wagons would be…challenging, to most other sapients’ aesthetic sensibilities, especially with a team of Magma Spawn pulling them along with plodding, heavy steps, their appearance suits your people just fine, and proves functional besides, not only resistant your people’s natural heat but the ravages of the elements themselves better then regular, untreated wood.
