The UNSC is kind of known for being a corrupt shithole before the Covenant war starts purging those people out (through paperwork or through death.) Even as late as 2552 we had UNSC upper brass spitting in the face of the Spartans. We 'intimidate' a bunch of high ranking personnel after our first ever big win and they'll make sure to fuck with us in some way shape or form. We ARE Halsey's toys. We're important, yes they know, but not important in anyway beyond being an incredibly potent weapon. Our purpose was to go in kill enemies of humanity, no questions asked. I don't think we should shake the boat now, not until we've furthered established ourselves.

Let's be careful with how we portray ourselves-I don't think, even with Haley's myriad of victories, that she is truly protected or has the insane pull you all seem to think she has. Lore dictates that she can be replaced with perfectly good result afterwards.
"B-but Sven-" Is just a soldier. This whole backroom deal, shadow plays, ESPECIALLY in ONI, is probably beyond our reach. We don't have the connections for that sort of thing, not really, and we won't nurture those connections through blatant intimidation. Especially not when they look upon our faces and see a child. NOT to say we should roll over and take it, that's not really what I mean. Just that we're a very fresh officer in a very fresh unit facing people who've gotten their say the majority of the time for most of their careers. If Halsey can be moved out of the way...who's to say Sven can't?
