>>5832895When it came to choosing a bulwark, it was obvious enough that Sebastian was well-suited to the job. The sturdy but slow armored knight would have no trouble safeguarding those in the backline who needed protection. As for someone to lead the Church’s Mages, you could think of no better captain than Damian. The man was originally Adrestian nobility, and he would have a good idea of the tactics that the enemy spellcasters would seek to employ. And for this stealth mission the Professor has in mind, it admittedly didn’t fill you with much confidence. Your first thought is that Anemone might excel at that sort of work, but you’ll need her in the sky with you battling the Hellwings. That leaves Milly. Despite her charming nature and newfound profession as an entertainer, she was still an Assassin in a prior life. She should do just fine.
“Very good.” Professor Byleth nods, meeting your eyes and smiling. “Thank you, Blair. For everything. This is it. One last battle, and the war will finally be over. We’ll give it our all tomorrow. For everyone that we’ve lost, and for everything that’s still left to be done. Victory WILL be ours.”
Seteth dismisses you, and you exit the tent, seeking to rendezvous with the Blackwings. After taking only a few steps, Catherine calls out to you from behind. She’s exited the tent with you and stands tall facing your direction. The Hero’s Relic, Thunderbrand, sits at her side.
“Blair, wait up.” Catherine says. “I wanted to ask you something. Is it true what I heard? That you slew your brother Rex d’Rusalka during the battle at Gronder?”
>You nod. “I did, though admittedly it was with help from Ingrid. She’d softened him up considerably before I achieved the final blow. I don’t believe I’d have stood a chance against him otherwise.”“I see.” Catherine nods, seemingly deep in thought. “That’s too bad. I understand that you knew my father?”
You recall Richard, the Margrave of Charon. You and Corrine had met him after you’d fled Garreg Mach. Despite being nobles from the Empire, he’d treated you with great hospitality. He’d even given you the funding needed to form the Blackwings. A decision that proved to pay off when you defended Charon from Ferdinand’s attack. He was Catherine’s father, though you found that he only very rarely spoke of her.
“Did you know Rex killed him?” Catherine asks. “Him and the Hellwings attacked Charon. They slaughtered its defenders to a man. And then rather than take my father hostage, they killed him in cold blood. Though knowing that stubborn goat, I doubt he’d have let himself be taken hostage to begin with.”
