Maybe you can disarm her without flirting.>Tell her you respect her mission, and the sacrifices that she has made to protect her family from the terrible truth... But we're here for our family legacy and to help our own loved ones, not to pursue True Immortality. Ask her to step aside... Or join us in our journey.“I respect your mission and the sacrifices you’ve made to protect your loved ones. I can’t fathom how hard it must’ve been.” You speak with care, mindful of the mimic point at your jugular. “But I’m here to preserve my family’s name–to help my own loved ones–not to pursue some far flung notion of immortality. I’ll have to ask you to either step aside or accompany me on my journey. Please..”
The mimic rapiers remain at your throat, but the look in her eyes change–a slight softening of her features and easing of her carved glare. “Hmph. Well..” The “dhampir” begins, but the right words seem to escape her. With that, the simulacra begins dissipating, the slime pulling inward as the construct dhampir dissolves into a thick puddle of silvery slime atop the water in front of you.
“Bah!--just a puddle of embarrassing memories..” Emilia grumbles, stomping through the water past you. “Let’s hurry it up before I hear any more old threats getting spat back up at me.”
“Well. I knew I could beat you.” Ava scoffs as she struts through the water, a smug look on her features. “If I’d put just a little more merit into the fight, I’d already be back on the surface.”
“But you didn’t.” You correct her.
“Hmph. I suppose not.” She quiets. “Well.. if your words had any weight to them, I suppose I have to thank you for your kindness.”
As your party breaks from the puddle and onward to the block’s end, you find your eyes drawn back to the mimic’s slime, still atop the water’s surface.
