It's meta to call such an ancient and reverred tradition as inhumane and that Talos wouldn't approve it when all those around him do it on a regular basis. In fact Talos and Uzi are somewhat of radicals themselves for allowing unrestricted emotional affect at all times.
The suppression of emotions to allow logical thinking, the warding away of fear and unnecessary pain, such are venerated in the Cult Mechanicus.
Should Talos overturn the centuries of tradition among skitarii and techpriests? Tell them that their methods of emotional control and meditation are effectively lobotomies, to be undone and to face the full brunt of their emotions regardless of whether they want to or not? To feel the intense pain of their many implants and surgeries without the benefit of shutting down the pain receptors in their mind?
That would be breaking such an ancient tradition.
And to break with tradition, is to break with faith.
