>>5662886So I elaborated on that "space hull breach/must use swords theme" a bit; the idea was "who is in control of the guns: human or robot/drone?" in my original setting I had two factions Axiom Galdra and Urthekau Sylabari, the idea is that a schism developed in that one side believed guns could be trusted only if mounted on war machines (think drones, robot mechs, those Avatar film AMPs etc) whereas the other faction believed that guns could never be trusted to autonomous robots, only humans could carry them etc. So you basically had one faction with human exoskeletons wielding guns / missiles whilst their robots carried those Armoured Core hydraulic rams and lances etc whilst another with drone controlled guns but humans adhering to the taboo of swords melee only etc. Later on though I expanded the factions with the Warguild there were too many factions lol so the distinction became lost, everything with me always becomes a bit 40k in the end lol.
I also liked how you blended in the weather control theme, I actually remember that technology more from Asimov Foundation's Edge novel (it is just casually hinted) but it is always a cool theme to put into these settings
