"We killed a bunch of Pentex assholes, we trashed their operation, we stole a magic mask and we're all still alive. If you ask me, we did pretty good."
"Not that good," Alex says in an attempt to bring you back down to earth. "We could've been a lot quieter. If we were, maybe Isaiah wouldn't have come this fucking close to kicking the bucket." You can't help but feel a little attacked, considering that you're the one who called the shots.
"Hey, we tried to get in quietly with those disguises, remember? How was I supposed to know that the goons from Hampton & Holt would figure us out so quickly, or that they had a fucking sentry on the rooftop?" She's about to retort when Marley butts in.
"There's no point in arguing over how we could've done better," the Metis remarks. "We did good enough and even though Sam made a couple of dumb decisions, I'd say that our success is proof that he's a decent alpha." With that said, he grins wryly in your direction. "Just don't let it go to your head, alright? You come up with some pretty stupid ideas sometimes."
"Yeah, that's why I keep you guys around, to talk some sense into me when I'm being a moron." You're not about to claim to be a perfect leader.
"I guess that why I'm okay with having you in charge," Alex grudgingly admits. "You take advice and don't just boss us around. If that ever changes and you become some arrogant jackass who thinks that he doesn't have to listen to his pack, I'm out." She looks towards Ella. "So, what about you? How do you feel about our glorious leader, huh?"
An awkward silence falls as the blonde averts her eyes and frowns in the direction of the caern for several seconds. "I don't know," she finally murmurs. You get the feeling that she doesn't want to share what she really thinks of you. "Can't we talk about this tomorrow? We should get some sleep."
She has a point. Rather than linger in Ladburg any longer, the four of you make your way into the forest and back to the glade that you have called home for the past month. Your familiar bivouac is there for you to crawl under and almost as soon as you've laid yourself down on the bedding of moss and leaves, you fall fast asleep.
Your slumber only lasts for a few hours before you've awoken by daylight and the grumbling of your belly. It's been ages since you last ate. Since it doesn't smell like Marley is cooking anything, you make the decision to shift into Lupus, sharpen your claws and hunt down some mice. They sate your hunger quite nicely and your new form also allows the injury that you sustained in Tennyson to heal.
