You thank Kamiko for inviting us to her house. You've been a bit of a homebody lately so it's nice to get-
Tamako elbows the side of your knee.
Trusting your daughter's judgement you change tactics quickly, and tell her she looks nice.
"Thanks, you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find nice clothes my size." Kamiko replies with a chuckle.
You walk down the hall towards the dining room, doing your best not to stare at the woman before you. Tamako doesn't seem to have a care in the world, bouncing around and peering down the halls and rooms as you pass.
The dining room contains a square table with three settings on it. Tamako takes the middle of the three seats, saying she wants to sit next to Kamiko. That leaves you to sit across from your date. Your host asks you to relax while she finishes up dinner, taking the potato salad with her to the kitchen.
"Poor mom, I think she lives here alone." Tamako says, picking up the fork and knife.
You ask her why she thinks that.
"A lot of the rooms are empty. I mean they have furniture and stuff but... What's the word... No personal things. Like, even a 'homebody' like you has a poster or two on their walls." The changeling answers.
Kamiko returns, serving a plate onto each mat. Tamako looks ecstatically down at the meal. You've never had Hamburg steak before, but it smells delicious. The hamburger has a nice, thick sauce on it, and it is served with cherry tomatoes, a bit of broccoli, and the potato salad. You must admit, you can see why kids always want it in anime. It's simplicity has a very safe, childish air to it.
Tamako loves it of course. You have to tell her to slow down as she finishes half the hamburger in mere moments.
"I'm glad you enjoy it, but we wouldn't want you to choke." Kamiko placing a glass of water in front fo her. She then turns to you and asks, "Would you like something to drink? A glass of wine perhaps?"
