And as he grabbed the mic and the music started, the mood became electric.

Felicia’s initial shock took a few moments to wear off before she properly got into the swing of things, but it didn’t take long for her to join the others in singing along.
It was just like what Hobie had said earlier. A classic is a classic for a reason.
But more than that, you found yourself surprised by his enthusiasm while singing. If you didn’t know any better, you would’ve thought that he was actually excited to be singing this.
During the entire four minutes that he was up there, you and Felicia were his biggest fans, hyping him up to the best of your ability as a reward for his having gotten up there to sing at all. For a moment there, you were afraid that he would absolutely refuse to participate at all, since he didn’t seem like the type. But, as it would appear, appearances can be deceiving.

As the night continued, various Desperados and “Desperado-adjacent” members got back up to sing a few more songs.
Ember, to your amazement, was willing to go back up there five more times.

And you got up there one last time to sing Chop Suey. Just for fun.

The lyrics were a bit tricky for you to sing, but that only gave the audience something to laugh at, so you didn't mind in the slightest.
More importantly, it gave you time to think of what you would say once the song was over. You didn't exactly have a concrete speech planned, but you had some highlights that you wanted to go over at some point during the party. And then there was the matter of your gift.
You felt much better about giving him a ring after serenading him an hour ago.
