“Never better.” Corrine seethes through gritted teeth. “Can you hold that thing off while I lick my wounds?”
Kate nods, and flies towards the direction of the Demonic Beast, its mouth still smoking.
“Not much for words, is she? At least she’s good at what she does.” Corrine says as she begins working on undoing the damage she received from the beast. Kate flies directly towards her prey, which tries to lash out at the pegasus with a backhanded swing of its claw. It fortunately misses, leaving itself wide open for Kate to drive her spear into one if its eyes. The beast roars and flails, wildly trying to hit Kate, but the girl is far too fast for it, always flying just out of reach. The beast leaves itself wide open during one of its lunges, allowing Kate to follow up and attack the wound inflicted earlier by Corrine. (18x2 = 36, 34/120 HP)
“You’re out of this world, Kate!” Corrine yells encouragingly. Her armor and clothing are badly burnt from earlier, but the wounds she previously received have been partially mended. (Corrine 40/45 HP). “Let’s finish this!”
The Demonic Beast is badly stunned. It gushes blood, and can hardly stand upright, but is still capable of fighting. It opens its mangled jaw wide open, and smoke and flames begin to swell up inside it as it prepares for another flame attack.
“That won’t work twice, asshole!” Corrine laughs. Unhooking a Tomahawk from her belt, she lets the weapon fly towards her target. The Axe spins in midair as it lodges itself within the Beasts mouth. The creature lets out a strangled cry. Spurts of fire come out of its mouth as it staggers left and right, choking on the Tomahawk. It raises one claw out weakly towards Corrine, only to fall still when Kate impales the creature’s head with her spear. It lets out one final shriek, before laying still, dead.
You watch the scene unfold before you as you rub the vulnerary into your gaping chest wound. The pain is unbearable, and you know that this will only serve as a temporary solution until you can find actual medical help. Your head is throbbing, but the memories slowly start coming back to you as you regain consciousness. You recognize the girls you saw fighting as Corrine and Kate. Did they come to rescue you? You stagger towards them.
“B-Blair?! You’ve been here the whole time?!” Corrine asks, startled at seeing you. Both girls run over and embrace you. “Thank the Goddess you’re okay!”
“Where are the others?” Kate asks.
As you study the corpse of the Demonic Beast, you have a feeling that you know the answer.
