"You will need more than the Staff of Water to face her dragon," Petrit said to Wilhelm. "The beast has scales of iron. No earthly metal may pierce its hide."
"Surely there must be something that can kill it," Wilhelm said.
"Yes," nodded Petrit. "It is said that the great staves of power may be used to forge a sword, such that it may pierce the dragon's scales."
"How?" asked Wilhelm, for this seemed the answer to the problem that tormented him.
Petrit shook his head. "I do not know," said the shopkeeper, and gestured beyond the ruins. "But it is said that a wizard lives in the deepest part of the pathless forest. If any know, it would be him."
Wilhelm looked up. The sky had begun to redden with the last light of day.
