Lucian had to think about it for a moment, “I will answer that with the idea that I had always done this. When all this began, with Verac, I faced down a Vampire by myself!”
“You’re right, you do have a deathwish.” Adok announced for the cavern to hear.
Lucian looked forward for a moment, thinking to himself what exactly he had been thinking. He gave the most honest answer that could be given, “Morr guides my life from the moment I met that Vampire, and has kept me alive since then. He will not allow me to die unless it betters the lives of our peoples.”
Adok gave a shrug to that answer, “Should have guessed as much. Still doesn’t explain why we keep running into these mayhems. The time I traveled before you hadn’t been this eventful.”
“You’re accusing me of being the Heir of Ruin?” Lucian asked half in jest, but with interest as well.
“First city we walked into together we find a Necromancer trying to resurrect a Grail Knight.” Adok laid out with a brush of his hand, “Next thing we know, we are hiding in a castle against a bloodthirsty fool for a year.”
“That year wasn’t very eventful though.” Lucian told the Dwarf with a point made.
“If you put hands on that lass who was teaching you there would have been one.” Adok told the peasant, “But now I’m afraid of us walking into a village, for all we know we’ve walked into a den of Chaos Worshippers by chance!”
There was a joke, but also a point in that Lucian understood. A glance towards the Ducal Prince was enough that if Lucian admitted to it, perhaps the earlier wounds would be mended. While it did not look like it Lucian could guess he was listening into their conversation.
It was a hard thing to still deny Lucian knew. Too many things have happened for him not to have at least a bad tendency to run into trouble. Having such a title only formalizes that Lucian was a dangerous character, not that he himself was dangerous but his appearance meant things were about to go really bad really quickly.
To go against it would only be a point of pride to keep the feud going, or if deep down he wanted to resist such a title.
