>E and S, Nurture Velvet. Perform a checkup on her and see what's up with her.
After quickly checking up on the their patients, the two nurses chatter about oddly morbid injuries with the same cadence you would tell an inside joke. They enter the cell after putting on some fire resistant suits.
The velvet-clad corpse is still sweeping away at the containment cell floor.
It's barely able to keep pace with how much soot fills the room.
S: Miss Velvet. As a guest, it is compulsory to keep your health in high regard.
E: P-please take a break, w-we need to do a checkup on you.
The anomaly stops sweeping, letting the charred broom fall to the floor.
If the doctor asks, just say it was an accident. We wouldn't want our record tarnished.
ANOMALY: If it is necessary. I do not think my condition needs any checkup.
S: We will decide that once it is over. Doctor's orders, I'm afraid.
The anomaly settles down on the floor. The still lit flames lick away at the floor.
The two nurses look at each other with a mutual uncertainty before approaching the anomaly.
Employee E adjusts the kimono directly while Employee S investigates the anomaly's anatomy.
The anomaly squirms a bit but otherwise doesn't say anything.
Such an immodest thing...but if it's for a checkup.
S: Ignoring the...obvious, let's see what we have here.
E: Don't worry, miss. We're only checking what's necessary.
ANOMALY: This is not necessary. Don't associate my name with this checkup.
The two look at each other with an equal amount of confusion.
E: W-we won't?
S: We won't. This is strictly confidential.
The flames flicker and dull just the tiniest bit.
ANOMALY: You may continue, then.
The check up continues as normal, with Employee S writing down notes on what she sees.
With the slightly lowered heat, she directly prods the charred flesh with a metal rod.
ANOMALY: Cold.
The anomaly shivers, the flames threatening to heat up again.
Employee S mutters something to herself while Employee E adjusts the kimono again.
S: Huh. That's unusual. Miss, what were your earliest memories?
ANOMALY: Hot. Hot, then cold. Then savages. Then a cube. Then this room.
E: D-do you remember any...sharp pains?
Employee E points towards several nasty gashes across the anomaly's chest.
The anomaly looks down. It doesn't seem to react much at all towards them.
ANOMALY: Hm. I don't recall getting those.
Employee E slowly reaches into the gash and yanks out a small shard of glass.
E: We'll take this so the wound can heal.
ANOMALY: If that is necessary. I am in perfect health. Remember to report my condition as such.
ANOMALY: I rather not attract unnecessary attention.
S: Of course.
The two employees quickly exit the containment cell.
"Holy shit." Employee S shivers. "I've dealt with burnt bodies before but one that can talk is another thing."
"You get used to it." Employee E shrugs with an odd apathy to her body language.
