"My dear, this is too much for me..." Ayane spoke through clenched teeth. "I feel like I'm at my limit."
"Don't worry, love. Just bear with it a little more." You tried to say reassuringly.
After concentrating more she was able to muster up enough energy to shoot a small, slow-moving ember from her right hand. It lazily floated for around a few feet towards you before fizzling out.
While spells were neither a skill nor an ability of yours, watching it in use could help you understand it better. Who knows, perhaps you could manage a few weaker spells one day.
You and Ayane had begun your training yesterday, but this morning was when you were starting to get serious. This was the third fireball she'd thrown today. She wasn't gonna break her past records anytime soon, but it was a start.
A kitsunes' natural talent with flames had many uses—setting her hands on fire was nothing for her. Ayane also claimed she vaguely remembered a few defensive spells.
Magic wasn't powerful in this world. The best way to use it was through enchanting, but that didn't mean spells were useless. Mel's illusions and invisibility as well as Gerty's healing were a testament to that.
Recently your Holy Knight was able to increase her healing magic from Low Heal to Medium Heal. She said that she might not be able to get higher than that, though she had yet to perfect healing herself while mid-fight.
Right now you and Ayane were working on strengthening your mana. Your fox was rusty in spellwork from decades of non-use, but that wasn't anything that couldn't be fixed with practice.
She put a hand against her forehead and staggered.
"Ayane!" You rushed over and helped her keep her balance. "Are you alright?"
She catches her breath. "I'm fine. Merely caught off guard. It's been years since I've used all my mana so quickly."
"You did great, dear." You say as you gave her a small kiss and scratched her ears.
She blushed and leaned into your hand, a content grin on her face. A hag like her had no right to be this cute.
Next up was physical training.
She didn't seem fat or unhealthy at first glance—but the years of inactivity took their toll on her, making her have abysmal strength and mana stats. These were probably the worst out of all of your wives, despite the fact that kitsune are naturally more inclined to have high mana. Thankfully this could be reversed with enough effort.
Stretching took a while. You needed to help her out with most things, her age truly showing in moments like these. But one thing was clear; her body was stiff. Not that pressing against her back and butt or grabbing her legs to help her do a split were bad things. In fact, Ayane seemed to get more motivated the more 'personal' you were with her.
Just like with Mel, you went about doing exercises with your old girl. While not lacking enthusiasm, reality soon set in and she wasn't able to do anything for more than a few minutes.
