What you do is gather a handful of dice and roll them on a piece of paper (eg marked as pic rel). Where the dice land become physical locations, what I often did was use the larger dice d12s d20s as the main hub areas or districts, the smaller d4s d6s become side areas or dungeon alcoves etc. You then look up the physical position of your dice against the random table references from your piece of paper. See pic rel for examples of how it works. If prepared correctly you magically auto generate entire cities with one dice roll.
